Dr. Allen, Linda
Linda is the Presidential Professor of Finance at the
Zicklin School of Business, Baruch College at the
City University of New York where she has worked
since 1989. She is also an Adjunct Professor of
Finance at the Stern School of Business, NYU from
2000.
Linda’s research interests cover credit risk,
operational risk and capital markets. Her consulting
assignments include with Lehman Brothers, Bank
Risk Knowledge Network, Inc.

of Israel, and the US SEC. She is a Board Member of the Aries
Opportunities Master Fund and has offered expert witness testimony during
litigations involving derivatives, credit and fraud. She is a liability and
damages expert and has a patent pending for a method for determining
damages in shareholder class action litigation. Prior to this, she worked at
Hofstra U., Salomon Brothers Center (NYU), & Queens College, CUNY.
Linda has published papers with respected journals. She has co-authored
‘Understanding Market, Credit and Operational Risk: The Value at Risk
Approach’ (Blackwell ’04) and ‘Credit Risk Measurement: New Approaches
to Value at Risk and Other Paradigms’ (Wiley ’02). She has also authored a
book on capital markets published earlier with Wiley. She speaks at events
organized by universities and industry bodies in the US and Europe.
Linda is an associate editor for four academic journals. She is on the
board of advisors for ‘The Financier’ and for the Merrill Lynch Center at
Hofstra University. She is a special issues editor for three academic
journals. She is a member of many industry bodies and is on the Standard
& Poor’s Council of Academic Advisors.
Linda holds a BA Summa Cum Laude from Queens College, CUNY and a
PhD in Economics/ Finance from New York University.
