Dr. Bohn, Jeffrey R.
Jeffrey is the General Manager and Head of
Financial Strategies Division at Shinsei Bank,
Tokyo. He is responsible for overseeing
implementation of best-practice risk and capital
analytics to support capital management, active
credit portfolio management, risk capital
attribution, and performance management.
Previously, Jeffrey led Moody’s KMV’s (MKMV’s)
Global Research group as well as MKMV’s
Risk Knowledge Network, Inc.

Credit Strategies group. In the past, his responsibilities included co-
heading product management and managing MKMV Asia. He has been
directly involved in developing several of the models and products currently
sold by MKMV. Before working in research, he built relationships with
global, strategic clients as a member of KMV’s client services group and
spearheaded the effort to expand KMV’s presence in Japan and Asia. Prior
to joining KMV in 1997, he owned a business consulting firm assisting US
companies building their businesses in Asia.
Jeffrey has published widely in the area of credit risk including a book titled
‘Active Credit Portfolio Management in Practice’ (Wiley ’08). He often gives
seminars and has presented his research at both the Tokyo University and
Waseda University and at other risk and finance conferences. He is Adjunct
Faculty at Tokyo University where he teaches (in Japanese) credit risk
modeling and is also Adjunct Faculty at UC Berkeley. He has also taught in
the MBA program at Golden Gate University. He is a Board Member of the
International Association of Credit Portfolio Managers.
Jeffrey holds a BA (Hons.) in Economics from Brigham Young U., and an
MS/PhD in Finance from UC Berkeley.
