Dr. Dowd, Kevin

Kevin is Professor of Financial Risk
Management at the Centre for Risk and
Insurance Studies (CRIS) at Nottingham
University Business School, UK, from 2000.

Kevin is an Adjunct Scholar at the Cato Institute
in Washington, D.C., a member of the Academic
Advisory Committees of the Institute of
Economic Affairs, and director of research at
Black Swan Risk Advisors based in Berkeley,
Risk Knowledge Network, Inc.

CA. His research interests are in financial risk measurement and
management, pensions and insurance, monetary economics, and political
economy.  

Kevin has held earlier positions at the Ontario Economic Council, Sheffield
Hallam University and the University of Sheffield.

Kevin has authored numerous papers published in peer reviewed journals.
He has a regular column in Financial Engineering News. He speaks at
numerous conferences in Europe and North America.

Kevin is an associate editor of the Greek Economic Review and a member
of the editorial boards of the Cato Journal, the Journal of Portfolio
Management and the Journal of Risk. He is a Fellow of the Pensions
Institute at Cass Business School. He has helped design the
PensionMetrics pension model. He is a member of the Tax Payers Alliance
and the Open Republic Institute and a Trustee of the John Hicks
Foundation.

Kevin holds an MA from the University of Western Ontario and a PhD in
economics from the University of Sheffield.
