Evans, Richard C. S.

Chief Risk Officer of Citi Institutional Clients
Group, Citigroup Inc., based in London from
June 2008. He is responsible for managing and
tracking the firm’s risks across corporate and
investment banking, sales and trading,
transaction services and alternative investments.

Prior to this, Richard was the Deputy Chief Risk
Officer of the Deutsche Bank AG, based in
London. He oversaw Market Risk Management,
Risk Knowledge Network, Inc.

Investment Risk Management and Treasury and Capital Management. He
joined the bank as Global Head of Market Risk Management and Vice-
Chairman of the Group Risk Committee in April 2000. He has also spent
nearly eighteen years with JP Morgan, working in London, Sydney, Brussels
and New York. After trading for thirteen years, he moved into Risk
Management from 1993 onwards. He headed up Risk Management in
Europe and Asia, spent two years as the Chief Risk Officer of Euroclear,
and led JP Morgan’s internal Risk Management Division from 1998 to
2000. While with JP Morgan, Richard was seconded to the Bank of England
to investigate the collapse of Barings Bank. He was one of the primary
authors of the official report presented to Parliament.

In January 2004 he was named ‘Risk Manager of the Year’ by Risk
Magazine. He speaks at leading risk management events, including in
Geneva and Hong Kong.

Richard was a Board Member of Euroclear SA and Euroclear Plc and
Chairman of that Board’s Risk Policy Committee. He is also a past
President (’03-’05) and member of the International Financial Risk Institute
(IFRI)’s Executive Committee.

Richard has an MA in Economics from Cambridge University.
