Gräwert, Alexander
Alexander is a General Manager with Fortis,
based in Brussels from April 2006. He is the
Head of Integrated Risk Management at the
head office covering risk governance setting, the
economic capital program, model validation,
group risk reporting as well as capital
management.
Prior to Fortis, Alexander worked with
consultants Mercer Oliver Wyman as Head of
Risk Knowledge Network, Inc.

Finance and Risk consulting in London, Frankfurt and Paris. He has
consulted on a broad range of strategy, risk management and capital
management issues primarily in the Insurance industry in the UK,
Germany, Switzerland, the Benelux and France. He led Oliver Wyman’s
advice of the CEA (European Insurance Committee) on Solvency II. He
started his career with Hypobank in Munich and New York.
Alexander has written and spoken widely on risk and capital management
as well as solvency management. He has spoken at leading events of the
Geneva Association, the RMA and various Insurance industry bodies. His
articles appeared in the FFSA’s circular, Versicherungswirtschaft and
Zeitschrift für das Versicherungswesen as well as a joint publication with
the CEA.
Alexander has studied Economics at the University of Saarland and at the
University of Michigan, Ann Harbor.
