Dr. Hamilton, David T.
David is Senior Vice President in the Credit
Strategy Research group at Moody’s Analytics in
New York. His research focuses primarily on
quantitative ratings, CDOs, defaults, and loss-
given-default. In his ten years at Moody's his
research has included corporate credit risk,
sovereign/municipal credit risk, structured
finance, the performance of distressed debt and
recovery in default. He was the primary author of
Moody’s annual default study for seven years.

He has received a Research award from Moody's Investors Service in ’02
and ’03.
David has also worked in Moody’s Risk Management Services division
(now Moody’sKMV), and was formerly Director of Corporate Default
Research in Moody’s Credit Policy group. Prior to joining Moody’s in 1997,
he worked in the Regional Economics group at the Federal Reserve Bank
of Philadelphia.
David has published articles concerning various aspects of credit ratings
and default risk in professional journals, books, and magazines. He has
lectured on credit ratings and credit risk at Columbia, Stern NYU, City
College of New York, FAME Lausanne, and was an instructor at the New
York Institute of Finance. He is on the editorial board of the Journal of Credit
Risk.
David holds a BA in economics and classical studies from Texas A&M U.,
MA in economics from Penn State U., and a PhD in financial economics
from CUNY.
